Menopause Breast Pain
Menopause breast pain is experienced by many women going through menopause. Hormonal imbalance and declining estrogen is primarily responsible for this breast pain. As menopause sets in among women there is wide variation between the progesterone and estrogen levels. Usually when the level of estrogen is low and that of progesterone is high the size of the breasts increases. With hormonal imbalance the breasts grow larger and the possibility of pain increases. So with declining estrogen levels and rising progesterone menopause breast pain is often observed. For many women this pain begins just as they enter the menopause period. Without necessary action menopause breast pain can get worse and therefore it is important to understand why this pain occurs and how it can be resolved. This breast pain may include soreness, tenderness and breast discomfort. This pain may also be accompanied with swelling. Usually women experience a certain degree of pain in the breasts during the menstrual cycles, during pregnancy and also while breast feeding. While such a pain can be uncomfortable the symptoms tend to reduce and stabilize after some time. However many women experience severe menopause breast pain as they enter the stages of perimenopause and menopause. As the most common reason for menopause breast pain is hormonal imbalance it is important to restore the hormone levels and this can be done by following a healthy diet plan and taking treatment for the hormonal imbalance. Moderate exercise is also important and some alternative medical treatment can also help in alleviating the breast pain. It is also important that the woman wears a bra that effectively supports the breasts without causing pain and creating irritation. Large seam bras should be avoided since these can cause a lot of irritation. Excessive consumption of tea and coffee should also be avoided as excessive consumption of tea can result in breast lumps. The diet should include plenty of Vitamin E and this can be found in wheat germ, nuts and cereals. It is advisable to reduce the consumption of animal fat. Soy items should be consumed since these are rich in isoflavones and this can help in restoring the estrogen levels among women going through menopause breast pain. Herbs like wild yam and red clover can help in restoring the estrogen balance. |
