Most women go through menopause between the age of 40 and 58. The stage before a woman actually enters menopause is called perimenopause. Since menopause results in cessation of ovulation and menstruation it also signals the end of fertility for a woman. This results in a large number of emotional problems as well. Many women undergo estrogen replacement therapy and hormone replacement therapy and also take other prescription drugs for menopause relief. A large number of women are choosing natural remedies and alternatives for menopause relief. Exercise as a whole reduces stress and helps in strengthening of the cardiovascular system along with the bones. Appropriate amount of exercise also helps in reducing problems of insomnia, lowers the cholesterol and helps in reducing weight. Moderate exercise can provide menopause relief particularly since many women tend to go through depression and exercise can reduce this. Menopause often makes women experience sweating and hot flashes. In this situation it is advisable for women to wear layered clothing. Layered clothing can provide menopause relief and allow women to get a good night’s sleep. Cotton clothing should be worn as it allows air circulation. If a woman is experiencing hot flashes then it is advisable for her to relax and take a deep breath. Consuming cool drinks and using ice packs can also help. It is important to keep a track of the food items that cause hot flashes and avoid them. It is also advisable to avoid tea and coffee or hot showers before bed.
